Sarasin & Partners has appointed Natasha Landell-Mills as head of environmental, social and governance (ESG) research.

Landell-Mills joins Sarasin & Partners from USS Investment Management (USSIM), where she was the senior analyst in the responsible investment team. At USSIM she played a leading role in integrating ESG factors into their investment process. Landell-Mills engaged with investee companies and led outreach to policy-makers in the UK, Europe and US on a range of critical issues affecting long-term shareholder value; from climate change to rules governing minority shareholder protection in listed entities, to accounting and audit systems.

At Sarasin & Partners, Landell-Mills will be responsible for ESG integration and engagement within the investment function, leading the responsible investment team and undertaking governance and policy work.

Henry Boucher, partner and deputy chief investment officer, Sarasin & Partners, says: "Natasha is joining us with exceptional experience in the key areas of governance and responsible investment, which are integral to Sarasin & Partners’ investment process. We see ‘stewardship’ as critical to our work as longer-term investors, and at a time when the pressures on society and natural resources are so acute, it is crucial for us to apply a clear focus on material extra-financial factors and incorporate them in decision making. Natasha will make a hugely valuable contribution to our team and our expertise in ESG research."

Landell-Mills replaces Adam Frost who left Sarasin & Partners in April this year to pursue a new life with his family in Switzerland.
