Allianz Life promotes Mike Scriver to senior vice president of hedging

Allianz Life has promoted Mike Scriver to senior vice president of hedging for Allianz Investment Management, a registered investment adviser with the SEC and wholly owned subsidiary of Allianz Life.

Scriver, who acts as global head of hedging for Allianz SE and its operating entities around the world, is responsible for providing strategic direction to develop and implement innovative hedging strategies and manages all major aspects of quantitative financial risk management operations. Scriver also provides equity and interest rate hedging programmes, incorporating advanced derivative strategies.
He reports to Allianz Life senior vice president and chief investment officer Carsten Quitter.
“Mike’s extensive experience has been instrumental in establishing Allianz Life as an industry leader in insurance product hedging,” says Quitter. “His expertise will allow us to secure the guarantees that back our annuity and life insurance products. At the end of the day, the promises we make in our products are designed to generate results for our customers.”
Scriver has been with Allianz Life since 2005 leading product hedging activities, including implementation of complex derivative strategies to hedge market guarantees associated with a multi-billion dollar global annuity product portfolio. Prior to joining Allianz Life, Scriver performed quantitative research and derivatives trading as a quantitative analyst for more than three years with Provident Advisors, a multi-strategy hedge fund in Wayzata, Minnesota. He also held various actuarial roles with ING in Minneapolis where he was responsible for actuarial modelling and cash flow testing.
