Following the opening of its representative office in Sweden in March, Amundi has recruited Christopher Crystal as head of distribution in the Nordic region.

Amundi established its historical relationship with Nordic investors in the 1990s and has had a branch office in Helsinki since 2005.

This recruitment strengthens Amundi’s footprint in Sweden following the arrival of Bjorn Sandberg, head of ETF client relationships, and is part of Amundi’s plans to develop its distribution business in Europe and Asia.

Christian Pellis, head of global external distribution, Amundi, says: “The establishment of Amundi Sweden shows the group’s long-term commitment to forge close relationships with clients in the Nordic region. We are confident that Chris will have a positive contribution to enabling Amundi to match the needs of investors with innovative solutions.”

Crystal joins Amundi from DWS Deutsche Bank where he was head of retail sales with responsibility for developing business and brand awareness in the Nordic region (2008-2013). Prior to this, Crystal worked for Nordea as institutional sales in Stockholm, Sweden where he was in charge of establishing Nordea as a tier one bank to European institutions and building the European distribution business (2006-2008). Previous to that, Crystal was responsible for institutional sales at Handelsbanken in Stockholm, Sweden then London, UK (2000-2006). He began his career in the brokerage sector working for Prudential Securities and various other stockbrokers in New York (1993-2000).
