The deVere Group has become the launch customer of a new life bond for the growing expatriate market in Germany.

STM Life, the cross border product specialist, has developed the STM Life Capital Bond Germany – a fully compliant German single premium life bond, providing significant tax advantages and wealth planning opportunities for German resident clients.

deVere Group director Mike Coady (pictured) says: “We are delighted to be the launch brokerage for this exciting, innovative product aimed at expatriates and local nationals based in Germany.  We will also look to introduce the solutions offered within the STM Life Capital Bond Germany to our clients living outside of Germany who intend to return to the country.

“This premium life bond offering once again demonstrates deVere’s commitment to meeting the growing and evolving financial needs of the continually increasing expat community in Germany.”

STM Life’s managing director David Cameron says: “We are delighted that STM Life could use their expertise to bring to market a tax compliant German solution and that deVere Germany are the first IFA to offer such a product to the expatriate community in Germany.”

Nigel Smith, the deVere Group’s global technical support manager, adds: “As it fully meets all German life assurance legislation, the STM Life Capital Bond Germany is able to provide clients with a wide range of tax benefits in different areas, including income tax and estate planning.

“Furthermore, clients receive a tax free roll up of all gains, dividends and interest, tax free switching of fund and/or investment strategies, and no additional VAT on asset management fees.

“Besides, the fundamental benefits of offering tax efficiency and investor protection, another of STM Life Capital Bond Germany’s key attributes is its flexibility.

“For instance, the policy can be denominated in a range of currencies and policy proceeds can be paid in cash, via transfer of securities or even in physical form, depending on the chosen investment; the bond offers a variety of additional life cover options for additional family protection, if required; there’s an exclusive choice of underlying investments available; and the policy can be adjusted to other jurisdictions to maintain tax benefits, amongst other factors.”

The deVere Group launched the STM Life Capital Bond Germany in the expatriate hubs of Munich, Hamburg and Frankfurt last Monday.
