Pictet Asset Management (PAM) has appointed of Eric Borremans as sustainability expert, with effect from 15 July 2013.
He will be attached to the PAM Quantitative SRI team, headed by Laurent Nguyen.
Christoph Butz, who has held the role of sustainability expert at PAM since joining in 2002, will now focus completely on the USD650m Pictet-Timber Fund, co-managing the fund as before with Gabriel Micheli. He remains a central part of PAM’s sustainability resource.
Borremans (pictured) joins from BNP Paribas Investment Partners, where he was head of corporate social responsibility and SRI development. He has over 20 years of experience in sustainability issues, first as an environmental consultant to both blue chip companies and public sector entities globally, and since 2001 in the asset management industry.
Borremans is vice chairman of the board of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), where he also leads the climate risk programme.
Olivier Ginguené, head of quantitative and balanced investment, says: "Pictet Asset Management has a strong reputation in sustainable investment, as our most recent award – SRI Provider of the Year at the European Pensions Awards 2013 – shows. The appointment of Eric deepens our sustainability expertise."
