BlackRock appoints head of iShares Europe

BlackRock has appointed Rachel Lourd as the European head of its iShares exchange-traded funds business.

Lourde, who joins BlackRock from Citi where she held the position of global head of corporate equity derivatives, replaces Joe Linhares who is returning to the US after three years in Europe.
Lorde’s remit will be to oversee the expansion of the iShares business throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“Our primary challenge in Europe is growing the pie – expanding the ways clients use ETFs,” says David Blumer, head of BlackRock in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “Rachel brings together a number of capabilities we believe are essential for this next era of iShares in EMEA. Rachel has a deep understanding of capital markets, has built her whole career around problem-solving to meet clients’ investment needs, has a strong ability to grow people and teams, and knows how to deliver the best of a global organisation to clients.”
