Coutts has appointed Donna Burns as head of human resources.

Burns joins Coutts from The Renaissance Group, where she was most recently a managing director and global head of HR, based in Moscow.

At Coutts, Burns will be based in London and will oversee the human resources’ agenda across all geographies of the RBS wealth division. She will report to Rory Tapner, chief executive, wealth, and Tony Williams, HR director, international businesses, RBS.

Burns joins the Coutts executive committee and will lead a multi-jurisdictional team of human resource professionals, providing strategic guidance to the CEO, board and senior leadership team to further establish Coutts as an employer of choice for talented professionals.

Tapner says: “Private banking and wealth are relationship-driven industries and Donna’s extensive knowledge of human resources and broad industry experience will be instrumental in the attraction and retention of high calibre professionals to serve our sophisticated client base.”

Prior to Renaissance Group, Burns worked as a managing director in human capital management at Goldman Sachs for nine years.  During this time, she spent four years focused on the development of the firm’s business in India, delivering a local HR strategy and establishing a team of 60 HR professionals.
