St James’s Place Academy launches Women’s Initiative

RELATED TOPICS

Wealth management group St James’s Place is launching a Women’s Initiative through its Academy, to highlight the firm’s commitment to supporting women in business.

In particular, the intiave will focus on promoting the benefits of wealth management as a career choice for women.

The St James’s Place Academy offers professionals, with no previous experience in financial advice, the opportunity to become partners within St James’s Place.

First established in 2007, the Academy trains high calibre candidates in financial advice, providing support for future partners of St James’s Place to start and build their own high quality wealth management practice.

Adrian Batchelor, Academy director, says: “Financial advice and wealth management have always been dominated by men, but there is no justification for this. Being a partner of St James’s Place is challenging, but ideally suited to women because of its flexibility and self-determination. Our comprehensive training programme provides professional women in business, who may be seeking autonomy in their career, a way to find a balance between work, family and lifestyle. It is also uniquely suited to those wishing to build their own business, but with the added support of the corporate structure at St James’s Place.”

Lorraine Sellwood, a St James’s Place partner and graduate of the Academy programme, says: “It is a fantastic setup. When changing career direction I don’t think anywhere else offers either the financial help, or such flexibility and support in setting up your own business.”

Successful applicants to the Academy undertake an intensive education, coaching and assessment programme equipping them with the ability to provide a professional, expert and face to face wealth management service to their clients. At the end of the programme successful trainees graduate from the Academy and into the St James’s Place Partnership and begin running their own business.
