SuMi TRUST strengthens UK sales team

SuMi TRUST has appointed Hiroki Moritani and Shin Sawada as directors of the international sales team based in London.

Prior to joining the London office, Moritani (pictured) was in charge of global fiduciary business development and client services for global investors at the firm’s head office in Tokyo.  He started his career at SuMi TRUST in 1996, where he has since held various positions including client portfolio management, product management, sales & marketing for institutional investors and global securities administration business.  He holds an MBA from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Keio University in Japan.

Sawada also joins from the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group head office in Japan where he was in charge of client services for the Domestic Public Pension Fund and financial institutions. Sawada started his career at SuMi TRUST in 2005 and has since worked across the asset management business including client portfolio management and risk management.  He holds a degree in Physical Chemistry and a master’s degree in Engineering from Doshisha University, Japan.

Hisaya Kambayashi, Managing Director, SuMi TRUST, says: “The Japanese equity market has continued to provide significant opportunities for investors and year to date the SuMi TRUST Japanese Small Cap Fund has returned 74.58% YTD.  The appointments of Mr Moritani and Mr Sawada will enable us to continue our success and further build our presence in Europe, one of our key markets.”
