Jupiter has appointed Robert Siddles to manage US small cap portfolios.
Siddles (pictured) has 26 years’ experience covering US equities as an analyst and fund manager, most recently at F&C where he managed over GBP500m in assets including the F&C US Smaller Companies Investment Trust and the F&C US Smaller Companies Fund.
During the past three years, the F&C US Smaller Companies Fund has returned 62.8 per cent against 59.2 per cent for the IMA North American Smaller Companies sector average.
Prior to F&C, he worked for Gartmore Investment Management between 1992 and 2000, spending five years as head of US equities. He also worked at Capel-Cure Myers for five years as a US portfolio manager.
At Jupiter he will run US small cap portfolios, working alongside Sebastian Radcliffe, a Jupiter veteran of 15 years, who manages large cap US and global equity income portfolios, including the GBP488m Jupiter North American Income Fund. Over the past three years, this fund has delivered a return of 49.4 per cent against 46.0 per cent for the IMA North America sector average.
John Chatfeild-Roberts, chief investment officer at Jupiter, says: “Robert is a seasoned investor. We believe there continue to be profitable opportunities for investors in US equities and look forward to developing our strategies in this area.”
Siddles says: “The temporary impact on economic growth of the US government shutdown may be grabbing headlines but this does not change the fact that the US is home to some of the most promising smaller companies in the world. Jupiter has an impressive track record as a stock-picking house and I am very much looking forward to working with Sebastian and the broader fund management team.”
