Orwell Capital launches UCITS fund

RELATED TOPICS

Orwell Capital has launched a Dublin registered UCITS fund for its systematic FX strategy through an umbrella structure managed by European and Global Investments.

The new fund, which began trading on the 14 October 2013 with seeding of EUR10m, will be available to both institutional and retail investors in three different currencies.

Carlos Sanchez, the managing director of Orwell, says: “All trades are within G10 FX; our aim is to focus on the highest liquidity products. The investment process is systematic and based on proprietary algorithms. We apply a number of strategies including trend following and mean reversion trading, with the aim of delivering consistent returns with minimal drawdown.”

The fund is managed by former Morgan Stanley options specialist and Balrath Capital portfolio manager Jacob Bartram who says: “Each of the three algorithms we currently employ is designed to return alpha in its own right. Additionally, due to the lack of correlation of returns, risk adjusted returns for the portfolio are enhanced.”

The launch of the new fund marks an important new initiative for the Orwell Group as it evolves from a UK-centric wealth manager into a pan-European financial platform offering fund management, wealth management, trust, fiducial and payment services though the companies within the Orwell Group.

The Orwell Group is based in London and has offices in Milan and New Zealand with approximately 60 employees and three regulated subsidiaries.
