Nordea launches specialist bond and EM equity funds

RELATED TOPICS

Nordea Asset Management has rolled out four new funds to its Nordea 1 SICAV range, broadening its suite of specialist fixed income and emerging market equity strategies.

Nordea 1 – Unconstrained Bond Fund is managed by the USD78bn US credit fixed income specialist MacKay Shields.

The Unconstrained Bond Fund has the flexibility to allocate investments across asset classes, with less benchmark constraints, while maintaining effective risk control. It seeks to exploit opportunities in the fixed income markets through a process of dynamic multi-sector asset allocation and active duration management.

Nordea 1 – Emerging Markets Small Cap Fund is managed by Boston-based small cap specialist Copper Rock Capital Partners. With bottom-up stock selection based on a blend of quantitative and fundamental research, Copper Rock strives to detect small caps with higher growth opportunities, but at valuations similar to emerging markets large caps.

Nordea 1 – Chinese Equity Fund, managed by Nordea’s international focus equity team, uses fundamental research to create a high-conviction concentrated portfolio of Chinese equities. The fund seeks to invest in high quality companies set to benefit as the country transforms towards a more consumer driven economy.

Nordea 1 – Nordic Corporate Bond Fund is managed by Nordea’s credit team. The fund invests in Nordic corporate bonds across the entire risk spectrum, excluding financials. The Nordic corporate bond market contains a wide dispersion of credit spreads among issues and across sectors. It also offers the chance to extract additional premiums in an investment universe characterised by small, and often under researched, issuers. Hedged in Euro, the fund offers diversification from the continental European credit market and benefits from the expertise of the largest Nordic asset manager.

Christophe Girondel, global fund distribution at Nordea Asset Management, says: “Over recent years we have been developing our product range in order to give clients an ever broader suite of investment strategies from which to choose. By launching these four new funds we further extend our potential to deliver alpha in various asset classes and market environments.

“By employing a multi-boutique approach combining internal strengths with external competences, know-how and quality in investment, fund management becomes possible across a broad product range.

“With the four new funds we are now able to offer our clients 67 specialised investment solutions in the Nordea 1 SICAV, more than half of them having above EUR100m under management.”
