March Gestión de Fondos, the investment fund manager of Spain’s Banca March, has appointed Antonio Lopez Silvestre as equities fund manager responsible for the selection of Spanish and European companies.
Silvestre will form part of the management team of March Gestión key funds: March Valores Iberian Equities, March Vini Catena and The Family Businesses Fund.
Prior to joining March Gestión, Silvestre worked at Exane BNP Paribas as equity research analyst and head of Spanish midcaps.
Prior to work at Exane, from 1999-2010, Silvestre was head of research and equity research analyst at Fortis Bank in Spain.
March Gestión currently distributes its investment funds in Austria, Spain, Italy, Luxembourg and the UK. The investment funds sold in the UK and Europe are its total return like fund ‘Torrenova’; its global wine industry fund Vini Catena, which has returned some 47.6 per cent since launch in 2009; March Valores Iberian Equities, which in the last five years has achieved a return of 46.9 per cent; and The Family Businesses Fund – a global equities fund which invests in family companies and which has returned 32.4 per cent since inception in 2012.
March Gestión chief executive Jose Luis Jimenez says: “With our focus in the UK on promoting Valores Iberian Equities – together with Vini Catena and The Family Businesses Fund – at a time when investors are increasingly looking at European and Spanish companies I’m delighted we have attracted Antonio to March Gestión.”
