Kathryn Langridge and Colin Croft to co-manage Jupiter’s emerging European portfolios

Emerging markets expert Kathryn Langridge has been appointed co-manager of Jupiter’s Emerging European Opportunities and Jupiter New Europe funds, joining regional specialist Colin Croft, with immediate effect.

Having communicated her intention to retire later this year to pursue a career outside fund management, Elena Shaftan has been helping Jupiter to identify an additional emerging European investment expert to support the team. Further details will be announced in due course.
Langridge, who has 30 years’ experience investing in global emerging markets, manages Jupiter’s Global Emerging Markets Fund which was launched in October 2010. Since joining Jupiter, Langridge has worked closely with Shaftan and Croft exchanging views and considering investment opportunities in the region. Their investment processes focus on bottom up stock selection with an emphasis on companies that have strong management, solid finances and a competitive edge in their market.
Croft, co-manager of the two funds, has worked alongside Shaftan on the emerging European team since joining Jupiter in 2006. He has extensive analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of the region and is a fluent Russian speaker.
John Chatfeild-Roberts, chief investment officer at Jupiter, says: “We have built substantial expertise in emerging markets over the past decade and it is pleasing to be able to be able to draw from the strength of this team to replace Elena. Kathryn and Colin have the right combination of experience and local market knowledge to aim to deliver outperformance for clients.
“Elena has made a valuable contribution to the company and her clients over the past 13 years; we would like to thank her and wish her every success with the new path she has chosen to pursue.”
