John de Carvalho joins Moss Adams Wealth Advisors as CIO

Moss Adams Wealth Advisors has appointed John de Carvalho as the firm’s chief investment officer.

A CFA charterholder with more than 10 years of capital markets experience, de Carvalho will be responsible for overseeing more than USD1.6bn in managed assets.
He will work with clients across the nation from the firm’s Seattle office.
“As we continue to grow and our clients’ needs become more sophisticated, it has become necessary to have a chief investment officer who can drive the future of our expanding asset portfolios,” says Rebecca Pomering, CEO of Moss Adams Wealth Advisors. “John is an incredible asset to the firm, and his thought leadership is going to bring a tremendous amount of value to our clients.”
Most recently de Carvalho served as director of portfolio management and research at Rainier Group Investment Advisory, where he was responsible for developing the group’s strategic and tactical asset allocation models, macroeconomic analysis and forecast and all aspects of investment research. He previously served as a senior analyst for Symetra Financial, where he developed the newly formed company’s treasury department, created the firm’s cash flow forecasting model and variance reporting and executed short-term investments and analyses.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Moss Adams Wealth Advisors at such an exciting time for the firm,” says de Carvalho. “I look forward to expanding on its already robust platform through technology and operational enhancements and by identifying ways to better serve individuals, middle-market businesses and their owners. Moss Adams is well known for both its unique client offerings and its strong culture, so I’m very excited to join the team.”
