The Athena Global Tactical ETF portfolio delivered the strongest one-year returns in Morningstar’s Managed ETF Category for the period ending 31 December 2013.
The portfolio also earned the number two position in the category for its three-year performance ending 31 December 2013.
The Portfolio also received “PSN Top Guns – Global Equity and ETF Global Equity” recognition from the Informa Investment Solutions PSN manager ranking database, the longest-running investment manager database in North America.
C Thomas Howard, CEO and director of research at AthenaInvest, heads up portfolio management for AthenaInvest. He has worked closely with the academic community for decades and his research yielded AthenaInvest’s patented research process which systematically analyses behavioural factors in the markets.
“Investment opportunities are readily available because markets are not as efficient as many believe,” says Howard. “The behavioural activity of multiple players in the market including investors, portfolio managers and analysts creates unique opportunities for us to generate portfolio returns.”
AthenaInvest uses a patented behavioural research process to identify the most attractive markets and capitalisation ranges in which to invest on a global unconstrained basis. The Global Tactical ETF Portfolio allocates among US large-cap equities, US small-cap equities, international developed equities and cash. The investment process also includes the flexibility to use leverage and conversely move to all cash allowing for both opportunistic and defensive exposure, as determined by AthenaInvest’s market barometers which measure deep behavioural currents.
“The strength of our market barometer readings was the basis for delivering great performance in 2013,” says Howard.
