Exchange-traded fund sponsor Global X Management Company has expanded its team with the appointments of Luis Berruga as chief operating officer and Tom Lynch as senior compliance officer.

Berruga joins Global X from Jefferies LLC, where he advised on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and strategic planning for financial institutions. Previously, he spent nine years at Morgan Stanley. His experience includes accounting, finance, marketing, technology, operations, training, and strategic planning.

Lynch, who joins Global X with nearly 30 years of experience within the financial services industry, served as chief compliance officer for Van Eck for six years, where he was responsible for overseeing and directing the compliance functions for mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, broker dealer, and advisers. Lynch previously served as treasurer at Van Eck for two years, as well as nine years at TIAA-CREF as second vice president overseeing financial reporting, policy function, and internal controls for mutual funds and variable annuities.

"Over the past year, we have witnessed rapidly growing interest in our funds from institutional and retail investors alike, and we continue to grow our team and hone our laser-sharp focus in an effort to achieve the best results for our clients," says Bruno del Ama, CEO of Global X Funds. "Luis and Tom each bring exciting and fresh ideas and capabilities to the table, and we cannot wait to see what kind of impact they can have for our investors."

Global X recently won the award for Best North American Exchange Traded Products (ETP) Provider at the fifth annual ETF Express Awards.
