WHV launches two mutual funds

WHV Investment Management has launched two mutual funds, WHV/EAM International Small Cap Equity Fund and WHV/EAM Emerging Markets Small Cap Equity Fund, sub-advised by EAM Investors.

California-based EAM focuses primarily on small cap and micro cap equity strategies and manages USD987 million in AUM across a broad base of institutional clients.
These new strategies are the result of the recent partnership among EAM Investors WHV and Northern Lights Capital Group announced in late May.
“EAM has a highly differentiated and sustainable philosophy and process in a space where high alpha is achievable. Their results are top notch" says WHV chief executive officer Andrew Turner. "And they're great stand-up folks. It’s exactly the combination we are looking for in a long-term partner.”
The mutual funds and partnership with EAM are the result of WHV’s continued focus on building partnerships with high-quality boutique asset managers to provide relevant investment options for clients. WHV’s goal is to expand its product framework through new partnerships and strategic acquisitions to meet the continually evolving needs of institutional investors financial advisors and their clients.
“There is growing interest for international small cap and emerging markets small cap products,” says Scott Blankenship WHV managing director and head of intermediary sales and distribution. “These strategies will complement existing international and emerging market products and help financial professionals further diversify their client’s portfolios.”
EAM was founded in 2007 by Travis Prentice Montie Weisenberger and Josh Moss all of whom have managed small cap and micro cap portfolios for institutional clients for over 12 years including previous experience at Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management. The portfolio management team for the funds is led by Moss who serves as director and portfolio manager and John Scripp, also director and portfolio manager, who have been managing EAM’s International Small Cap and Emerging Markets Small Cap strategies since inception 2011 and 2012 respectively.
EAM’s investment process seeks to capitalise on positive fundamental change by taking advantage of investor biases and market inefficiencies. Through its objective and disciplined investment process the team looks for opportunities where other investors may be slow to react to a company’s improving financial outlook.
“Both WHV and EAM share steadfast dedication to and a deep passion for delivering results to our clients,” says Prentice. “Through our experience we believe our investment approach strikes the right blend of combining objectivity with focused and timely fundamental research to translate opportunities into alpha in the international small cap and emerging markets small cap market.”
