Trust, funds and corporate services provider First Names Group has appointed Ben Newman as managing director of its Jersey trust and corporate business.

The appointment is effective immediately.

Newman has been promoted to managing director of First Names (Jersey) Limited after working as client services director at the group for five years. He will take over from Mark Pesco who has moved into a new group role.

Newman has worked for over 24 years in both trust and treasury management and has held board positions within legal, private banking and independent trust businesses. He joined First Names Group in 2008 as a private client director and has held the position of deputy managing director since January.

Newman says: “The group has witnessed unprecedented growth in the last few years and it is a fantastic time to be part of the organisation. We believe superior client service comes from the inside out, so my focus will be on continuing to develop the internal culture to ensure we have the right working environment for our people to deliver the best possible service. Our reputation is strong and I am looking forward to building on this to position First Names Group as the first choice when selecting a corporate services provider.”

Morgan Jubb, CEO of the group, says: “First Names Group is ambitious and to achieve our objectives and sustain the level of growth we aspire to, we need a strong leadership team. I am delighted with Ben's promotion, he is a strong and very personable leader who is dedicated to delivering the highest level of client service. He is very well respected by clients and colleagues alike and I have every confidence that he will continue to raise the bar and drive the business forward in Jersey.”
