Lower costs and better platform availability to drive uptake in ETF usage, says Vanguard poll

UK financial advisers believe that lower costs and better platform availability will be key factors in driving an increase in ETF allocations, according to a poll by Vanguard Asset Management.

The survey, carried out at Vanguard’s June Investment Symposium in Manchester, also revealed that advisors think better education is needed to drive ETF growth.

Nearly all (97%) of the respondents to the poll intend to either maintain (47%) or increase (50%) their ETF allocations in the coming 12 months.

“We are seeing increased appetite for ETFs as many more advisers are recommending them for clients’ portfolios,” says Nick Blake, European head of retail at Vanguard. “However, it comes as no surprise that more education and better availability on UK platforms is needed to encourage greater usage.”
