Arbuthnot Latham’s senior staff recently skydived to raise money for children’s literacy charity, Beanstalk.
As part of the private bank’s corporate social responsibility programme, members of Arbuthnot Latham’s executive committee undertook skydiving from a plane at Chiltern Park Aerodrome, Oxfordshire to help raise GBP20,000 for Beanstalk.
Group head of compliance, David Moland, says: “This is certainly the most challenging thing I have ever undertaken for charity. When we all signed up to the jump I don’t think any of us thought about the actual process of jumping out of a plane at 12,000 feet. Despite that, we are all determined to help raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.”
Arbuthnot Latham’s chief executive, James Fleming, says: “We are all getting behind the Beanstalk challenge. Arbuthnot Latham’s staff have been very generous in their time and efforts raising money for Beanstalk, including participating in the walk from London to Brighton last month and various events including, a designer fashion show and a cake-bake off.
“For my part I will be swimming in next month’s London Triathlon at the Royal Victoria Dock and hope to add to the funds that have already been raised. This is a real team effort and I am very proud of the dedication demonstrated by Arbuthnot Latham staff.”
Sue Porto, Beanstalk’s CEO, says: “The team from Arbuthnot Latham is really pulling out all the stops and has already smashed their original target of GBP10,000. We’re incredibly grateful to the Executive Committee for getting behind the team and supporting their fundraising efforts with a sponsored skydive. Every penny raised will make a life-changing difference by providing vital literacy support to children in need.”
