Stewart Capital Mid Cap Fund added to Charles Schwab’s Mutual Fund OneSource Select List

RELATED TOPICS

The Stewart Capital Mid Cap Fund (SCMFX) has been added Charles Schwab's Mutual Fund OneSource Select List for the third quarter of 2014.

The list comprises no-load and no-transaction fee mutual funds that have passed rigorous screening for performance, risk, and expenses by the Charles Schwab Investment Advisory.

The fund is one of only six mid-cap funds among the 20 third-party funds selected for the Small- and Mid-Cap US Stock Category. The Select Lists are widely used by portfolio and financial consultants in portfolio construction for their clients, and they are important tools available for self-directed individual investors at Schwab to help them make informed investment decisions.

"We are pleased and excited to learn that the Stewart Capital Mid Cap Fund has been selected to be on the Mutual Fund OneSource Select List," says Malcolm Polley, president and chief investment officer, Stewart Capital Advisors. "Our process focuses on buying businesses not stocks, on long-term trends not short term noise; and we are thrilled to have independent validation of the portfolio team's discipline and hard work."

The Stewart Capital Mid Cap Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in equity securities of a relatively small number of intensively researched US companies the adviser believes sell at a discount to their true business worth or intrinsic value.

The fund invests primarily in undervalued mid-cap stocks and therefore is subject to the possibility that value stocks or mid-cap stocks may temporarily fall out of favour or perform poorly relative to other types of investments. While stocks of mid-cap companies may be slightly less volatile than those of small-cap companies, they still involve substantial risk. Because the fund invests in a relatively limited number of securities, it may present greater risk than a more broadly diversified portfolio.
