US Bancorp Fund Services (USBFS) has teamed up with WBI Investments to launch the WBI Shares, a suite of 10 actively-managed exchange traded funds (ETFs).

The EFTs are designed to provide long-term capital appreciation, while protecting capital during unfavourable market periods. The WBI Shares ETFs launched on 27 August and surpassed USD1 billion in assets on its first trading day on NYSE Arca.

“We believe actively-managed ETFs are the future of the ETF industry, and US Bancorp Fund Services is critical to supporting these funds now and in the future,” says Don Schreiber, Jr, founder and chief executive officer of WBI Investments, a registered investment adviser headquartered in New Jersey. “In this market, actively managing risk and capital is essential, and USBFS has both the experience and technology offerings to make this possible and practical.”

WBI Shares specialises in offering actively-managed ETFs that focus on providing consistent and attractive returns while minimising volatility and risk. USBFS provides ongoing support for WBI and all types of exchange traded products, including ETFs that are passive or actively-managed, domestic or foreign, and equity, fixed-income or commodity-based.

“We took specific, deliberate measures while building our network of ETF specialists and proprietary technology to provide flexible, scalable support solutions for our clients,” says Joe Redwine, president of US Bancorp Fund Services. “Whichever style of ETF a client believes is best suited for a new product, our service model is designed to meet that client’s customised requirements.”

All of the new ETFs launched by WBI use the company’s absolute return investment approach, and include the following:

·        WBI SMID Tactical Growth Shares (WBIA)
·        WBI SMID Tactical Value Shares (WBIB)
·        WBI SMID Tactical Yield Shares (WBIC)
·        WBI SMID Tactical Select Shares (WBID)
·        WBI Large Cap Tactical Growth Shares (WBIE)
