Fighting financial crime seminar for Manchester financial advisers

A seminar which examines the changes to financial crime legislation is to be held for financial advisers in Manchester.

With levels of financial crime growing in recent years and sweeping legislative changes affecting the industry as a whole over the past 15 years, the event will consider how the Fraud Act of 2006 and the Bribery Act of 2010 have altered the way in which independent financial advisers (IFAs) operate.
The event is open to all financial advisers and will be hosted by the Institute of Financial Services at the Lowry on Salford Quays on 13 November at 1pm.
Speaking at the event will be two prominent and experienced anti-fraud experts, Mark Hewitt and Bill Durrant. Between them they have more than 60 years’ experience combatting financial fraud and money laundering, with the Metropolitan Police and more recently with their company, Tandem Fraud Solutions.
They will examine some of the key points set out by legislative changes and concentrate on the Proceeds of Crime Act, 2002, which covers the three main stages of money laundering; the key concepts of criminal property and conduct; customer due diligence and risk assessments; and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).
