LSE sees record month for ETF trading


The London Stock Exchange (LSE) enjoyed a record month for exchange-traded fund (ETF) trading in October with order book turnover totalling GBP6.2bn.

The 20 most traded ETFs are across asset class equity (e.g. FTSE 100, S&P 500) but also fixed income (e.g. corporate bonds, high yield and gilts).
ETFs with exposure to the FTSE 100 accounted for GBP895m of the GBP6.2bn (14.4 per cent of total ETF value traded for October 2014).
First introduced in the UK in 2000, there are now over 1,000 ETFs and exchange-traded commodities listed on London Stock Exchange tracking developed and emerging market equities, fixed income and commodities indices.
