Exchange traded product (ETP) provider Source is throwing its facial resources behind the charitable efforts of the Movember Foundation.
Since the beginning of November, two-thirds of the men at the investment firm have been growing moustaches to raise money to help improve the lives of men affected by cancer, mental health problems and other serious issues.
The 32 ‘Mo Bros’ have been joined by three ‘Mo Sistas’ and, together, the team has raised approximately GBP6,000. With the end of ‘Movember’ fast approaching, Source believes it can help raise a much higher target and is appealing to the generosity of its investors, sponsors, partners and anyone else who would like to give to this worthwhile cause.
"The stats are stark,” says Michael John Lytle, Chief Development Officer at Source. “One in seven men will contract prostate cancer during their lives. I have seen it up close with an uncle and my own brush with fate. While some may be lucky enough to remain unscathed, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas are helping increase awareness while raising money for research. Don't let a loved one suffer unnecessarily due to ignorance or denial. Pitch in and help them stay healthy."
“We are very proud to support the great cause of Movember,” adds Peter Thompson, Source President. “My own inspiration to put this effort together at Source is my big brother who is on the frontline in a battle with prostate cancer and is fighting his heart out to beat it, and Iknow he will. These men’s health issues touch so many lives – brothers and sisters alike – that playing a small supporting role in an incredible movement like this is a privilege, an honour and just plain good fun, and I am happy and honoured to be part of it. A huge ‘thank you’ goes out to everyone who has already given so generously, and for those who will hopefully do so in the last week.”
The Movember Foundation reports that 87% of funds raised in 2013-14 have been committed to men’s health programmes, which remains well above international best practice of 80%.
