Harrington Cooper appointed to distribute Mandarine Unique Fund in UK

RELATED TOPICS

Harrington Cooper, the fund distribution company, has been appointed by Mandarine Gestion to manage the distribution of its funds in the UK.

Having managed funds for clients of family offices and segregated accounts for UK wholesale investors for several years, Mandarine Gestion has now decided to broaden its investor base in the UK.

Mandarine Gestion is an independent fund management company based in Paris specialising in European equity and asset allocation funds. Founded in 2008 by Marc Renaud the company currently has EUR 2 billion assets under management.

Harrington Cooper’s initial focus will be on the Mandarine Unique – Small & Mid Caps Europe, subfund of the Mandarine Funds SICAV.  Mandarine Unique has a strong track record, having returned +99.23* since inception in 2010 compared to +56.05%* for its benchmark index, the Stoxx Small 200 DR. It currently has EUR 265 million assets under management and holds a five star rating from Morningstar. The fund is managed by Diane Bruno, Marie-Jeanne Missoffe and Marie Guigou, a team of highly experienced small & mid cap fund managers.

The investment strategy focuses on small to mid-cap European companies which have unique business models and considerable market share in niche markets. These companies benefit from strong pricing power, making them less sensitive to general economic conditions, and therefore less volatile than the overall market.

The fund has an average of 50-60 holdings within the portfolio at any one time.  Companies must meet one of four fundamental criteria:

• no listed direct competitors in Europe
• a global market share of over 25%
• specific geographical exposure
• leading technology which enables it to create a new market, or disrupt an existing market

Harry Dickinson, managing partner, Harrington Cooper, says: “Harrington Cooper only selects the top investment specialists from world class asset managers and the Mandarine Unique Fund offers this talent along with a differentiated approach and an impressive track record. We expect to see strong interest from fund selectors who have been consistently telling us that there is a dearth of truly excellent European small cap managers available in the UK market.

“Mandarine Gestion is just the type of asset manager that Harrington Cooper aims to represent because its funds are high-conviction, have high Active Share and its fund managers are motivated by generating alpha for their investors.”
