Alternative investments lawyer Michael A Adelstein joins Kelley Drye

Kelley Drye & Warren has appointed Michael A Adelstein as a partner in the firm's Corporate Practice in the New York office.

Adelstein is one of the foremost lawyers in the field of alternative investments, representing hedge funds, placement agents, companies, family offices and other private investment vehicles in the structuring, negotiation and development of PIPEs (private investment in public equity) and registered direct transactions.

Adelstein also advises on initial public offerings, primary and secondary offerings, CMPOs, ADR/ADS offerings, special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), 144A offerings, venture capital, private equity and convertible securities transactions. He represents investors, placement agents and companies in evaluating, structuring, negotiating and implementing investment structures from concept through fund raising, and in the strategic management of later developments and exit events. He joins Kelley Drye from Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Adelstein is the second lawyer to join Kelley Drye's Corporate practice in the past month, following Martin D Teckler, who is resident in the firm's Washington, DC office.

"Michael Adelstein will be a tremendous asset to Kelley Drye's corporate practice," says Robert I Steiner, managing partner of Kelley Drye's New York office. "He has a reputation as a leader managing PIPEs and alternative investment structures, which will enhance our team and the services we provide clients. We're thrilled he's joining the firm."

"The comprehensive range of services Kelley Drye's corporate practice offers its clients really appealed to me. The firm's record of successfully executing large-scale projects and highly-specialised counsel is impressive, and I'm looking forward to joining a team of top corporate lawyers who provide the highest quality of services," says Adelstein.

Adelstein received his JD from Columbia University Law School and his BA and BS from the University of Pennsylvania, The College of Arts and Sciences and the Wharton School of Business. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York.

Adelstein joins a team of corporate lawyers working throughout the firm's seven offices. Kelley Drye's corporate practice advises clients worldwide in numerous areas of law, including corporate finance and securities, financial institutions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and project finance.
