Brooks Macdonald grows managed portfolio service team with senior appointment

Brooks Macdonald Asset Management (BMAM) has appointed Jim Mackie as investment management director in the firm’s Managed Portfolio Service (MPS) team in London.

Mackie has over 15 years’ investment management experience and joins BMAM from Vestra Wealth where he was an Investment Manager responsible for Vestra’s range of model portfolios across a large number of platforms. Jim also sat on Vestra’s Platform Investment Committee while managing a number of bespoke discretionary portfolios. He has previously worked at Cheviot Investment Management, UBS, Laing & Cruickshank and HSBC and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI)
In his new role, Mackie’s main responsibilities will be to support the management of Brooks Macdonald’s MPS offering, which consists of five diversified portfolios and covers a wide range of investment objectives and risk profiles. He will also assist in the management of the four risk-rated fund of funds (FoF), provided by sister company Brooks Macdonald Funds.
Mackie’s recruitment follows BMAM’s continued investment in its MPS range of model portfolios, in response to growing demand from professional advisers for outsourced investment solutions, and brings the total number of MPS investment managers to three. BMAM’s MPS provides a lower access point to discretionary management expertise while benefitting from Brooks Macdonald’s successful central investment process.
Andrew Shepherd, Joint Managing Director of BMAM, says: “Jim is another outstanding new hire for BMAM with an excellent track record, adding to the exceptionally talented group of investment managers already working here. Our MPS proposition is in a phase of tremendous growth driven by demand from the professional adviser market and Jim’s experience in this arena will prove invaluable in the evolution of this service.”
Mackie says: “I am delighted to be joining the successful MPS team at Brooks Macdonald at a time when this core part of the business is going from strength to strength. Brooks Macdonald has an excellent reputation, both across the industry and, crucially, in the eyes of its clients. I look forward to contributing to what I believe will be a successful future for the firm.”
