Invesco PowerShares Capital Management has been named “Best Smart Beta ETF Provider” by etfexpress. The annual etfexpress Global Awards recognise excellence among managers and service providers of exchanged traded funds around the world.

“PowerShares was founded on the belief that all investors should be provided with a smarter way to access the markets – beyond traditional active and passive strategies,” says Dan Draper, Managing Director and Head of Invesco PowerShares. “Having introduced the first smart beta vehicles available today, we will continue to innovate and seek to provide investors with more intelligent exposure to the markets and expand portfolio construction opportunities through our various smart beta ETFs. We are truly honoured to be recognised by the investment community for our role as an ETF innovator.”

Smart beta strategies seek to offer investors an alternative to traditional passive and active portfolio construction options. Through smart beta ETF strategies, investors are able to gain specific market exposure, and may be able to reduce portfolio risk and achieve long-term outperformance when compared to a cap-weighted market benchmark index. While smart beta is growing at a rapid pace, the concept is far from new. Alternative weighting and factor-driven strategies have been used by institutional investors since the 1970’s, although not labeled “smart beta.” As a pioneer in smart beta ETF strategies, Invesco PowerShares provides investors with a number of time-tested options suitable for various market conditions and investor profiles, among more than 80 smart-beta strategies.

The annual ETF Express Global Awards are chosen based on votes cast by readers of ETF Express, which includes institutional and high net worth investors, as well as managers and other industry professionals such as fund administrators, brokers, custodians and advisors. Winners received their award at a celebratory luncheon on Thursday, February 26 in London.
