Polen Capital has launched a new UCITS fund, the Focus Global Growth Irish UCITS Fund , which is now available to UK and EU investors.
The new fund adheres to the same active investment philosophy as Polen Capital’s flagship Focus Growth strategy, investing in a concentrated portfolio of leading growth businesses that have strong financials, sustainable competitive advantages and the potential for durable five-year earnings growth. With its focused portfolio of around 30 US and non-US holdings, Polen Capital is able to take a disciplined, criteria-driven approach in the selection of each business, regardless of sector or geography.
The fund is managed by Julian Pick, who joined the Polen Capital Investment Management team in July 2014. Pick, a veteran of more than two decades as a global equities manager, previously spent time with Janus Capital where he managed the Janus Institutional International Equity Portfolio and the Janus Adviser International Equity Fund. Pick also served as managing director of Deutsche Bank in London and as Co-Portfolio Manager for the Global Growth strategy at Sands Capital in Arlington, VA. Managing the Polen Global Growth strategy, he is focused on delivering strong returns while providing a ‘margin of safety’ that typically results in less fluctuation in volatile markets.
“The overarching themes in our selection process are quality and sustainable long-term growth,” explains Pick. He looks for great businesses in leading sectors and geographies that he can buy with the intention of holding for at least five years.
“We believe quality prevails over the long-term,” he adds. “It allows us to own businesses that continue to grow through different business cycles because of their financial strength and competitive advantages. It’s a strategy that has proven itself over time.”
Stan C. Moss, CEO, says: “We launched our Global Growth strategy to provide investors with the opportunity to participate in the growth of many of the world's greatest businesses. Geographical diversification is a key element of the strategy and we’re pleased to be able to answer the growing demands of global investors for sustainable returns.”
