London-based wealth manager London & Capital has hired Thomas Donlon as General Counsel within its legal and compliance team.
Donlon joins from Towry where he was General Counsel advising the board of directors and senior management on implementing regulatory change, mergers and acquisitions, and creating and implementing more robust risk management frameworks within the business.
Guy McGlashan, Chief Operating Officer of London & Capital, says: “Thomas’ appointment has come at an integral time for the company. After the past few years of rapid growth from new client wealth, particularly among the ultra-high net worth and international community, Thomas will provide valuable advice and guidance to all our specialist business areas as they continue to grow, reducing the need to take external advice”.
Thomas is a dual qualified (US and UK) solicitor, and his background will help evolve London & Capital’s expanding US and Caribbean relationships. His particular expertise in funds and financial services offerings will also support the London & Capital US Family Office, (which manages the wealth of over 200 American families living in the UK) with their US/UK proposition and expansion plans in the coming year.
During his years at Towry, Thomas was key to various acquisitions, including its acquisition of the Baker Tilly private client financial advice and investment management business. Thomas also advised on the implication of FCA rule changes as part of the Retail Distribution Review and compliance with the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD).
