Squire Patton Boggs has appointed senior tax fund and trust lawyer Patricia Woo as Of Counsel. Woo was previously at King & Wood Mallesons.
A Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Certified Tax Advisor and member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, Woo is experienced in helping ultra-high-net-worth families set up and operate family offices, and in fund formation, succession and tax planning matters. In addition to setting up trusts and private trust companies, her expertise includes the establishment of internal hedge funds and private equity funds and handling complicated restructuring of existing trusts and funds. Woo has considerable experience in designing and structuring both single and multi-family offices, dealing with financial regulatory issues and also the formation of charitable and philanthropic ventures for wealthy families. She also advises private banks and trust companies in the launch of new products and services that target ultra-high-net-worth families.
James Tsang, Managing Partner of Squire Patton Boggs in Hong Kong, says: “Patricia is a talented lawyer, well-known and respected for her work in the private wealth sector, particularly in the family office space. We are seeing increasing demand from ultra-high-net-worth families with family office and international tax issues and Patricia’s experience will further strengthen our capabilities in this field.”
“It is exciting to be able to bring Patricia on board to complement our existing international private wealth tax practice in the region led by James Tsang, one of the widely recognised doyens of the sector,” says Bernhard Gilbey, Global Head of Squire Patton Boggs’ Tax Strategy & Benefits Practice Group. “Patricia brings both the skills and experience that will support the delivery of one of the key aspects of our strategy to grow our international private wealth practice.”
