Josh Emanuel, CFA, has been named chief investment officer of Wilshire Funds Management, announced Jason Schwarz, president of Wilshire Funds Management.

Emanuel will report directly to the firm’s president Jason Schwarz. He joins Wilshire Funds Management, a business unit of Wilshire Associates Incorporated (Wilshire), from The Elements Financial Group (TEG) where he also served as chief investment officer. Prior to his tenure at The Elements Financial Group, Emanuel served in a variety of roles at Wilshire from 2004-2010, including head of manager research, head of strategy for Wilshire Funds Management, and co-chairman of the Wilshire Funds Management Investment Committee.

In his role as CIO for Wilshire Funds Management, Emanuel will be responsible for the business unit’s investment platform and directly supervise the portfolio management, manager research and investment research teams. Wilshire Funds Management oversees multi-asset class, multi-manager and alternative investment programs for financial institutions and intermediaries and advises on more than USD147 billion of client assets.

“We are thrilled that Josh is returning to Wilshire,” says Schwarz. “Josh brings an ideal mix of knowledge about Wilshire, our clients and our process, as well as new tools and ideas that are well-suited to the continued growth of our business. Josh’s experience creating and managing a variety of outcome-oriented investment strategies will be highly accretive to our investment capabilities.”

Since 2010, Emanuel has served as chief investment officer of The Elements Financial Group, LLC, a diversified financial services company. During his tenure at TEG he developed and managed a variety of multi-asset investment strategies, served as portfolio manager of two actively managed exchange traded funds and co-developed RiskPro, an innovative technology solution for financial advisors and institutions. Prior to 2004, Emanuel was responsible for international manager research for Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, Inc.
