Berenberg has strengthened its European and US equities teams with with a raft of new hires.
Twelve recent hires underline the importance of the European equity research for Berenberg. Among the new recruits, Simon Toennessen, a highly-ranked Capital Goods analyst joined from Credit Suisse, Alessandro Abate, a top ranked Metals analyst transferred from JP Morgan, and experienced Aerospace & Defence specialist Charlotte Keyworth, came from Canaccord Genuity.
After participating in a handful of UK IPOs so far in 2015, including HSS Hire and DFS, Berenberg has appointed Chris Bowman from Liberum as senior UK ECM and Corporate Broker to focus on the UK corporate market. He has been tasked with building a team that will report to Berenberg’s Global Head of ECM, Oliver Diehl.
These appointments are complemented by the arrivals of: Alexandra Clement (ex-FinnCap and Arbuthnot) who joined in equity sales to focus on UK smaller-caps; Victoria Maigrot, who joined from Blackrock to work in Consumer specialist sales; and hires into the Nordic, Benelux and French sales teams, including Alex Chevassus from Nomura in Paris.
After preparing to begin trading equities in the New York office, recruitment has also continued in the US with seven new appointments in the year to date, including Scott Duxbury and Bob Spillane to run the US execution desk; Tristan Hedle, as senior sales-trader, from Investec; and three hires in equity sales.
