Former iShares MD to lead F&C ETF push

RELATED TOPICS

Marc Knowles, a former managing director at iShares, has been appointed by F&C Asset Management (F&C AM) to spearhead the firm’s push into the passive exchange traded fund (ETF) space in the UK.

F&C AM, which is due to rebrand as BMO Global Asset Management next month following its takeover by the Bank of Montreal twelve months ago, is planning to launch a trio of smart beta ETFs in the fourth quarter of the year – an equity ETF with an income bias, a global corporate bond ETF with duration options, and a global high yield ETF.

Rob Thorpe, F&C head of UK sales, retail and wholesale, says: “We are keen to get an initial suite of products into the market, and then grow from there with more specific and strategic options as clients get to know us in the ETF space.”

Knowles joins F&C from Markit where he had held the position of director from 2013, having previously been a managing director at iShares.
