Vito Sciaraffia joins Innealta Capital as Vice President of Investment Strategy

Vito Sciaraffia, PhD, has joined Innealta Capital – a quantitative asset management firm specialising in the active management of portfolios of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) – as Vice President of Investment Strategy.

Working with Innealta's Investment Committee, Dr Sciaraffia will utilise the firm's proprietary quantitative models to collaborate in the management of investment portfolios and strategies. Additionally, he will work with institutions, distribution partners, and financial advisors to further their understanding of the firm's investment philosophy and process, portfolio solutions, and investment performance.

"Vito is a highly credentialed, knowledgeable, and experienced addition to our Innealta team," says Jeff Montgomery, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Innealta Capital. "He will help us continue to evolve our boutique firm by adding further depth and expertise to our investment team and to the management of our unique portfolio solutions."

Dr Sciaraffia will work directly with Gerald Buetow, PhD, CFA, Chief Investment Officer for Innealta Capital, and the entire Innealta team. He most recently served as a Senior Researcher at Dimensional Fund Advisors, where he conducted empirical asset pricing research, wrote academically grounded papers, collaborated in the design of investment strategies, and was responsible for delivering technical presentations to colleagues and clients. Prior to that, Dr Sciaraffia was an Assistant Professor of Finance in the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Earlier in his career, he was an investment banker at Citigroup and a risk analyst at JP Morgan.

Dr Sciaraffia holds a PhD and an MS in business from the Walter A Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. In addition, he holds an MA in mathematics—with an emphasis on stochastic processes—from UC Berkeley, an MBA and a Master in Finance from the University of Chile, and an engineering degree and a BS in economics and management from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

"We are always seeking opportunities to better serve our clients," says Mark Mowrey, CFA, Senior Vice President of Innealta Capital. "Vito will play a key role in this ongoing initiative by helping us continue to strengthen our capabilities, resources, and offerings."

Innealta was acquired by AFAM Capital in 2009. Since then, the firm has been committed to becoming the most respected, sophisticated, and largest exchange-traded fund (ETF) strategist in the industry.

"Having thoroughly studied the managed ETF space, I am impressed by Innealta's expertise, investment solutions, and its leadership position in the industry," says Dr Sciaraffia. "I am eager to work with my new colleagues to further enhance our investment strategies and expand our suite of solutions to better serve our current and future clients."
