Berenberg appoints Manfred Schlumberger as CIO

Dr Manfred Schlumberger has been appointed as the new Chief Investment Officer at Berenberg, with effect from 1 January 2016. He will join from BHF-Bank to head up investment strategy and private asset management services.

Dr Schlumberger has been a managing director of BHF Trust Management Gesellschaft für Vermögensverwaltung mbH since 2001 with overall responsibility for conventional and individual asset management services.

In conjunction with our multi-award-winning private banking advisory services, we boast an outstanding all-round offer for our clients,” says Dr Hans-Walter Peters, spokesman for the Managing Partners of Berenberg. The company run by Dr Schlumberger came top of the 2015 performance rankings compiled by German research company firstfive in the category covering investment periods of 36 months and was named among the five leading wealth managers in 30 of the 32 areas assessed. For the past 11 consecutive years, Handelsblatt has awarded Berenberg its top grade of “summa cum laude” in its Die Elite der Vermögensverwalter ranking.

Born in Langenau near Ulm in 1958, Dr Schlumberger gained his doctorate at the University of Augsburg. His career took him first to Dresdner Bank, DIT and Frankfurter Volks­bank. In 2001, he joined BHF Trust Management Gesellschaft für Vermögensverwaltung mbH, where he acts as spokesman for the managing directors and head of asset management services. He also manages the BHF Flexible Allocation FT investment fund.
