AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has promoted Paul Squires (pictured) to the role of Global Head of Trading & Securities Financing (TSF) replacing Christophe Roupie, who after more than ten years at AXA IM has decided to leave in order to pursue a new opportunity.

Squires joined AXA IM in 1996 as a trader and has been Head of Trading since 2005. He began his career as an equity trader for Mercury Asset Management (now Blackrock) in 1993, before becoming a UK Equity Trader for Sun Life Investment Management in 1996, which subsequently became part of AXA IM.  As Global Head of TSF, Paul will retain his current responsibilities as Head of Trading and will report to Julien Fourtou, Global Head of MACS and TSF.

Jayne Forbes has been promoted to Global Head of Securities Financing and Deputy Head of TSF, reporting to Paul Squires. Jayne joined AXA IM in 2005 as Head of Securities Financing and has over 20 years’ experience within securities financing sales, trading, and product development.

After more than 10 years with AXA IM, Christophe Roupie has decided to leave in order to move to Switzerland and pursue a new and very different opportunity as the CEO and Partner of a family-run business.  Christophe joined AXA IM in May 2005 as Global Head of Trading before becoming Global Head of Trading and Securities Financing (TSF) in January 2006.  Until his departure, Christophe will work closely with Paul and Jayne to ensure a smooth transition.

Julien Fourtou, Global Head of MACS and TSF, at AXA IM, says: “I would like to thank Christophe for the significant contribution he has made over the past ten plus years.  As a key member of our management team, Christophe has played a significant role in AXA IM’s success and we all wish him all the very best for the future.  He has not only built a market-leading TSF division, but has also helped to engage employees globally by organising and participating in several major charity fund raising events over the years.  He will be missed.

“Paul Squires inherits an incredibly strong and loyal team who are ready, under his leadership, to continue to develop TSF, including its expansion in Asia and the US, and increased interaction with electronic platforms.  We are confident that Paul, with the support of Jayne and the team, will build on the excellent work Christophe has done and ensure that AXA IM remains at the forefront of trading and securities financing.”
