Nautilus strengthens senior team with double appointment

Jersey headquartered trust company Nautilus has strengthened its senior team with two appointments. Lawyer and trust practitioner Michael Goulborn has been appointed executive director and Peter Cheesley joins as head of business development.

In his new role, Goulborn will specialise in establishing and administering trust and fiduciary structures for high net worth individuals and their families. He will be responsible for managing the financial and estate planning interests of a portfolio of private clients, including the administration of a range of structures such as discretionary trusts, foundations and private trust companies. Goulborn also joins the board of Nautilus.

Goulborn, who joins Nautilus from offshore law firm Carey Olsen, qualified as an English solicitor in 1992 following a career in the Royal Air Force. He worked for a number of leading law firms in the City of London before moving to Jersey to 1999, and qualified as a Jersey Advocate in 2004

‘Nautilus has established a solid reputation over many years for quality and expertise. As a company it takes dynamic steps to ensure it has a strong business for the future,’ says Goulborn.

Cheesley has over 20 years’ experience in marketing and business development and will lead the company in developing its position in the offshore trust market and growing its client base. He has worked in the banking, legal and fiduciary sectors in London and Jersey, holding positions with leading banks and a magic circle law firm. Cheesley joins Nautilus from Ogier.

Cheesley says: ‘I’m delighted to have joined Nautilus and am looking forward to helping the business secure a strong place in the market as a quality provider of trust and private client services.’

Jason Cowleard, CEO of Nautilus, adds: ‘We are pleased to welcome Michael and Peter to the Nautilus team. Michael’s knowledge and experience in trust law will be extremely valuable in advising clients on our wide range of fiduciary services, while Peter brings the right mix of experience and expertise to take Nautilus forward into a new era. These appointments further strengthen our business and will enable us to capitalise on future opportunities as we continue to invest in and build our company.’
