Baring Asset Management has made two senior appointments to its global multi asset team, expanding the team to a total of 12 individuals with an average of twenty years investment experience.
James Ind and Merrick Styles will be based in London reporting to Marino Valensise (pictured), Head of Multi Asset at Barings.
James Ind will join Barings in early September as a member of the Strategic Policy Group (SPG) and the Equity Research Sub Group. He will be leading the development of a long short strategy based on the proven strength of the output of SPG. James brings with him deep experience, managing long short multi asset funds as well as equities at firms such as GLG Partners, Russell Investments and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.
Merrick will join the team in mid-October. He will become a member of the SPG and the Economic Research Sub Group, assume the chairmanship of the Asset Class Research Sub Group and become the lead manager of the Baring Euro Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund. He assumes this role from Hartwig Kos who is leaving the firm. Merrick joins Barings from Amundi where he was most recently Co-Head of Investments for their UK business. He started his career at that firm in 2005 and was a part of the team which managed the multi asset VaR funds at Credit Agricole.
Valensise, says: “I am pleased to welcome James and Merrick to the firm as we continue to invest in building our multi asset franchise through hiring the best talent. These additional resources will allow us to expand our product set while continuing to deliver performance in our existing strategies.”
