UBS Global Asset Management has launched a GBP hedged share class for the UBS Global Equity Long Short Fund, increasing its accessibility to institutional investors and asset allocators.
This meets client demand for the fund which has generated significant annualised returns since launch in August 2012.
The Global Equity Long Short Fund (GELS) is an Irish domiciled fund which seeks to deliver equity-like, high single digit returns with lower volatility than long-only equities: the Fund’s strong performance since launch is coupled with consistently low volatility, delivering an impressive Sharpe ratio relative to peers and led to industry award and rating recognition.
Co-Managers Nick Irish and Charles Burbeck have more than 10 years’ experience of successfully co-managing global equity portfolios, including long/short strategies and validate all stock decisions.
Commenting on the current positioning of the fund, Nick Irish, says: "Although the various signals we use to assess overall market exposure have led us to be towards the lower end of our typical range of 20 – 40 per cent net long recently, we nevertheless see no shortage of mis-priced stocks to exploit, on both the long and short books, which should prove beneficial for potential future fund performance, regardless of overall market direction".
