BTIG adds Steven Rockwell to investment banking team

BTIG has appointed Steven Rockwell, CFA, as a Managing Director within its Investment Banking Group.

At BTIG, Rockwell will focus on the restaurant industry, an increasingly meaningful space within the Consumer Investment Banking business. Today’s announcement follows a significant number of recent hires within Investment Banking, and further signals the firm’s commitment to investing in the leadership of the team.

Commanding a deep understanding of the restaurant industry landscape, Rockwell will leverage his more than 30 years of experience in the space to advise the firm’s clients. As a highly-accomplished restaurant investment banker, his diverse resume includes positions in investment banking, equity research, portfolio management and corporate financial management. Rockwell joins BTIG from Janney Montgomery Scott, where he was a Managing Director, responsible for the firm’s restaurant investment banking practice. Previously, he was the Vice President of Finance for Ruby Tuesday, responsible for corporate planning, bank relations, franchise finance and investor relations. From 1999 through 2006, he was a Partner, Chief Operating Officer and Portfolio Manager at Brown Advisory. Earlier in his career, he was the Director of Research at Ferris Baker Watts and a Senior Restaurant Analyst at Alex Brown/Bankers Trust, where he was recognised as an “All-Star” analyst multiple times by Institutional Investor magazine. He was also the founder of Rockwell Partners, where he was a consultant to emerging restaurant companies. Rockwell is a frequent columnist for Nation’s Restaurant News and is regularly featured as a presenter at industry conferences and events.

“Well-regarded in the restaurant industry, Steven will strengthen our capabilities as we continue to build out our banking team,” says Graham Powis, Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at BTIG. “His unique perspective and extensive equity financing, capital raising and strategic advisory experience will greatly enhance the industry and transactional expertise that we provide to clients throughout their business lifecycles."
