Berenberg has strengthened its team of economists by hiring Kallum Pickering as Senior UK Economist with effect from 10 August 2015.
Pickering will lead on UK macroeconomic commentary and analysis, working with Berenberg’s Extel No1 ranked Chief Economist, Dr Holger Schmieding, in London.
Pickering joins Berenberg from BNP Paribas where he worked as an economist focusing on UK, Ireland and Nordic macro and real estate. Previously, he was Senior Economist at The Construction Products Association, providing expert analysis on the UK economy and construction sector to leading global industry players.
Pickering’s appointment further bolsters Berenberg’s global team, following the recent recruitment of Dr Mickey Levy as Chief US and Asia Economist in New York, and Dr Manfred Schlumberger as Chief Investment Officer in Frankfurt.
David Mortlock (pictured), Head of Berenberg UK, says: “We are pleased to welcome Kallum Pickering to Berenberg as Senior UK economist. Having recently strengthened our team in the US and Europe, Kallum’s appointment underlines our continued commitment to providing our clients with high quality economic analysis to guide their investment decisions globally.”
Pickering says: “I am delighted to be joining Berenberg at this exciting time of growth for the bank both in the UK and globally. Berenberg has built a reputation for excellence over the past 425 years and I look forward to working with some of the industry’s leading analysts to continue this tradition.”
