ETF manager Innealta names Dr Vito Sciaraffia as co-CIO

AFAM Capital has announced the appointment of Dr Vito Sciaraffia (pictured) as Co-Chief Investment Officer of its exchange traded fund (ETF) management division Innealta.

This appointment represents the firm's latest effort to add robust intellectual capital as it continues expanding its institutional-quality investment committee.
Innealta Capital was acquired by AFAM Capital in November, 2009, and since that time has added extensive PhD level and CFA credentialed talent to the Innealta Investment Committee. Throughout the past half-decade, Mark Mowrey, CFA, and Dr. Brian Henderson, PhD, CFA, have been contributing and voting members of the Investment Committee. The committee is further supported by additional research and trading professionals in AFAM's Texas and California offices.
Innealta Capital is one of the largest ETF managers in the US, and AFAM claims compliance with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS). The firm's commitment to sophisticated quantitative analysis and investing will not change. The construction of the firm's portfolios and quantitative analysis will also remain in place, and the constant process of evaluation and optimization of the firm's methodologies will occur as it has since the inception of Innealta more than a decade ago.
Jeff Montgomery, CEO of AFAM Capital, noted that the firm's investments in the Innealta Division have grown. "Innealta is a unique, sophisticated approach to risk managed investing with a broad, established product line that helps advisors build more sophisticated portfolios," said Montgomery. "Our core product line will remain the key focus of our firm, and we will continue to invest heavily in enhancing our solutions and deepening the overall Innealta team."
Dr Jeff Buetow adds: "In my six years with the firm, we have delivered unique, useful, and sophisticated solutions to advisors and their clients. These team enhancements further support that important purpose."
Sciaraffia joined the firm earlier this year after holding a senior level position at Dimensional Fund Advisors. In conjunction with these resource additions, Mark Mowrey, CFA, is being promoted to Senior Portfolio Manager of the Innealta Division. Mowrey has been involved in developing the Innealta portfolios since 2009.
