SLI marks five years of MyFolio

RELATED TOPICS

Standard Life Investments (SLI) is marking the fifth anniversary of its MyFolio fund range, a suite of 25 risk based investment strategies which now has assets under management of over GBP7 billion and in the first half of 2015 alone, attracted net sales of over GBP900 million.

Performance of the fund range has been robust. The MyFolio Managed range for example, the most popular choice to date, delivered an annualised return of 4.5 per cent for its lowest risk option with performance increasing through the risk profiles to an 8.1 per cent annualised return for its highest risk option*. This pattern has been replicated throughout the full suite of funds meaning clients who have opted for higher risk portfolios have been consistently rewarded.

Iain McLeod (pictured), Investment Specialist for the MyFolio range at Standard Life Investments, says: “We launched the MyFolio fund range in October 2010, ahead of the implementation of the Retail Distribution Review, when we anticipated an increased demand from advisers and their clients for cost effective, risk-targeted solutions that would meet a variety of investment objectives.

“Since then, pensions freedom legislation has once again brought MyFolio to the fore as investors looking for both pre and post retirement solutions opt for multi-asset strategies to diversify risk with the additional benefit of income generation. Investing in 15 different asset classes including absolute return strategies helps us protect the downside risks for clients. This is an excellent solution for gaining exposure to a diversified range of assets and so mitigating the impact of market volatility.”

“Our five year track record of strong risk adjusted performance has cemented our reputation as a key solution provider for advisers and their clients. A stringent process of strategic and tactical asset allocation and fund selection from a universe of over 8700 funds, many of which are not normally available to UK advisers or their clients, all combine to enable us to offer clients this compelling solution. We look forward to ensuring that we continue to deliver excellent outcomes for our rapidly expanding client base over the next five years and beyond.”

Bambos Hambi heads up the London based MyFolio Fund Solutions team of ten; now one of the largest research teams in the industry. In 2013, the team won the ‘Best Fund of Funds’ award at the Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year Awards and the MyFolio Income range won ‘Best New Fund Launch’ at Professional Adviser Awards. In 2015, they won the Best Multi-Manager/Multi Asset Provider at the Money Marketing Awards.
