Purpose Investments launches Investment Grade Bond ETF

Purpose Investments has launched the Purpose Tactical Investment Grade Bond Fund. The initial public offering of the Fund's ETF units has closed and are trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol BND.

"The biggest challenge facing investors and advisors today is how to allocate to fixed income in their portfolios," says Som Seif, President and Chief Executive Officer of Purpose Investments. "Passively holding bonds over the past 30 years has been extremely rewarding. However today, the reward relative to the risk of a 'buy and hold' bond portfolio is no longer as attractive. With the Purpose Tactical Investment Grade Bond Fund we are focused on enhancing the return opportunities in bonds while reducing the amount of interest rate risk by using hedging strategies to reduce interest rate and duration risk on the bond portfolio. The result should be a better reward per unit of risk in a bond portfolio."

The Purpose Tactical Investment Grade Bond Fund is designed to achieve positive total returns without taking on additional risk. The Fund maximises the risk/return trade-off by enhancing bond yields while managing duration across a broad range of Canadian and US government and corporate investment grade fixed income securities.
