One Charles Private Wealth launches through Focus Financial’s Focus Independence programme.

Former Merrill Lynch advisors Paul Squarcia (pictured) and Erik Wallin have launched a new registered investment advisory firm – One Charles Private Wealth – through Focus Financial’s Focus Independence programme.

Focus Independence (formerly Focus Connections) is designed to help wirehouse teams successfully launch their own independent wealth management firms.
Squarcia, a 15-year veteran of Merrill Lynch and the former senior resident director for the Hyannis, Massachusetts complex, is the founding principal of One Charles. At Merrill, Squarcia led a staff of financial advisors that provided customised wealth management solutions to affluent individuals and their families, as well as solutions for businesses and charitable organisations. Prior to working at Merrill, Squarcia spearheaded many growth initiatives as a business executive at Merck & Co and SleepMed, Inc. This experience has made him a valued resource among entrepreneurs. Joining Squarcia at One Charles is Wallin, a former first vice president at Merrill Lynch who spent approximately 13 years working with high-net-worth individuals on their financial plans. The two have worked together at Merrill since 2006, serving clients in 40 states, though their client base is primarily concentrated in Massachusetts. One Charles will have five additional employees providing support in the areas of relationship management, operations and marketing.
At One Charles, the team will launch two new client offerings: Circle of Care and Social & Conscious Investing. Circle of Care aims to provide customised wealth management solutions that cater to all the complexities of a client’s financial life. Social & Conscious Investing has the twofold purpose of building portfolios that seek to deliver both financial performance and social benefits, helping clients with not only their philanthropic efforts but also aligning their wealth with their values to create positive social change.
“One Charles Private Wealth was created to provide our clients with more solutions around investments, banking, insurance and socially-responsible investing,” says Squarcia, Founding Principal of One Charles. “Our partnership with Focus will allow us to continue to serve their best interests as we make the exciting transition to independence. Further, the access to capital, resources and best practices available through the Focus network will allow us to take our business to the next level through both M&A and organic growth strategies.”
“We are excited to support this elite team of advisors in the transition of their business and clients to the independent wealth management model,” says Chris Dupuy, President of Focus Independence. “Their entrepreneurial DNA and drive to grow and improve their firm make Paul and Erik a natural fit for Focus.”
