William Blair adds to Chicago team

Investment banking and asset management firm William Blair has appointed Lawrence D Gilbert as a vice president and financial advisor in the firm’s Chicago office.

Gilbert, a veteran financial advisor, focuses on business owners, high-net-worth families, and private foundations.
“We are selectively expanding with the right people,” says Ryan DeVore, William Blair’s head of Private Client Advisors. “Larry is a great addition to William Blair’s team of talented financial advisors. Our financial advisors average more than 20 years of industry experience, they understand each client’s unique circumstances, and put their clients’ interest first.”
Gilbert has more than 24 years in financial services and joins William Blair from Credit Suisse, where he was a director in its Private Bank. Before that, he served at High Tower Advisors and at Goldman Sachs in their Private Wealth Management divisions. Before his years in private wealth, Gilbert worked for eight years as a professional market maker on the Chicago Board Options Exchange, trading a portfolio of index and equity-based options and futures. He received his MBA from the Booth School at the University of Chicago and BA in economics from Pennsylvania State University.
