Old Mutual International, part of Old Mutual Wealth, is strengthening its leadership team through the appointment of Karen Blatchford as head of international marketing.

The appointment will provide key leadership and investment expertise as Old Mutual International develops the next phase of its ambitious growth plans.

Blatchford joins from Legal & General Investment Management where she was sales and marketing director responsible for the retail investment proposition. Prior to this she held various marketing leadership roles at Legal & General.

In her new role Karen will lead the Old Mutual International marketing team, and will develop the opportunities within its vertically integrated model. Karen will help lead the cohesion with Quilter Cheviot and Old Mutual Global Investors to develop the investment solutions available to international advisers and customers. She will help the business build its footprint in its core international markets and raise the bar on the solutions available to international investors.

Blatchford, who will report into Michelle Andrews, marketing director for Old Mutual Wealth, says: “It is an exciting time to be joining Old Mutual International and I believe the opportunities vertical integration presents are unrivalled in the industry. Building investment solutions which are focused around the adviser and customer is something I feel passionately about, and having access to a first class asset management firm and discretionary manager makes the proposition extremely compelling.”

Andrews says: “We are at a pivotal moment in our development of Old Mutual International. With Wealth Interactive building momentum, Karen’s exceptional investment and leadership experience will now drive the investment plans for our international business and help develop our future strategy.”
